Sacred Sound: A Drum-Making Circle

The drumbeat is something we all feel deep in our bones; it echoes the heartbeat of Mother Earth. The process of making your own drum is both sacred and empowering—a way to discover your voice and connect with the beauty of your divine feminine power.

In this workshop, we will gather in circle to honor the tradition of drum making and the many women’s songs passed down to us by our teachers—songs about women and the elements of nature. These songs are cross-cultural and multi-generational, sung by elders in women’s circles around the world, in healing sessions, out in wild places, and to our daughters. Drums and song have the power to create community, calling us home to a place of ancient wisdom.

You will craft your own traditional hoop drum, choosing the energy of the animal you wish to work with—Deer, Elk, Horse, or Buffalo. As you build, you will lace your intentions and prayers into the drum, creating a powerful instrument for ceremony, healing, and self-expression.

We will also share a potluck lunch together—nourishing our bodies and deepening connection in community.

Important: Please order your drum kit from Cedar Mountain Drums by September 17, 2025. If you plan to join, please contact me first—I’ll provide you with a handout to help you choose the right animal hide for your medicine drum.

Whether you are called to drum for personal meditation, community ritual, or simply the joy of rhythm, this day offers the space to create something deeply personal and powerful—together.

Class fee: $60
