Under the Linden Tree: Hands-On Herbal Medicine Circles

with Kirsten Dehmlow, Certified Community Herbalist
Centennial, CO

Over the past two years, I have had the joy of walking alongside women as they learn the language of the plants. Together we've harvested herbs from the garden, crafted beautiful remedies with our own hands, asked countless questions, shared tea around the table, and discovered that herbalism isn't about memorizing hundreds of plants—it's about building relationships with a handful of trusted allies.

The plants become our teachers, inviting us to notice the changing seasons, the needs of our own bodies, and the quiet wisdom that emerges when we slow down enough to listen.

This six-month program combines the depth of Shelley Torgove's online Essential Herbalism Foundations course with our monthly in-person Herbal Medicine Circles in Centennial, Colorado.

Herbal wisdom belongs to everyone.
Learning how to harvest and use plants is an act of remembering—reconnecting with the ancestral knowledge that lives in our bones and kitchens, waiting to be reawakened.

Working with herbs is an act of self-trust.
When we begin to bring plants into our daily rhythms, we reclaim our power, deepen our intuition, and become stewards of our own well-being.

Healing is hands-on.
This offering is more than a course—it’s a living, breathing experience. You’ll not only gain deep knowledge through Shelley’s comprehensive teachings, but you’ll also root that learning in practice—touching, tasting, making, and sharing remedies in community.

Together We'll Learn Through:

✔ Lifetime access to all course materials
✔ Monthly live Zoom gatherings
✔ A comprehensive, accessible introduction to working with herbs in daily life

Shelley is not only a deeply respected herbal educator—she is my longtime teacher and ongoing mentor. Her teachings have profoundly shaped my work and my relationship with the plants, and it is an honor to now share her program while holding space for students in our local community.

Under the Linden Tree: Hands-On Herbal Medicine Circles
Each month we gather around my table with mugs of tea in hand. Depending on the season, we may wander the garden to meet the plants, harvest fresh herbs, create medicines together, share what we're noticing in our own lives, and explore how the month's herbal ally supports body, mind, and spirit. These gatherings are equal parts classroom, apothecary, and community. Every gathering is different because the seasons are always changing. We let the plants guide our learning, working with what is growing and calling for our attention.

Rooted in my training with Shelley and my studies in European folk herbalism with Tonja Reichley, these sessions offer a space for connection, creativity, and confidence-building.

This isn't simply an herbalism course. It is a place to practice herbalism.

This program is for women who long to...

  • Care for their families with plants grown or gathered close to home

  • Reconnect with ancestral knowledge and intuitive healing

  • Learn in a way that is experiential, embodied, and deeply nourishing

  • Learn alongside women who value slowing down, caring for one another,

and living in closer relationship with the natural world.

  • Feel confident in creating home-based herbal remedies

By the end of six months, you'll leave with:

  • Confidence using approximately twenty foundational medicinal herbs.

  • Practical experience making herbal teas, tinctures, infused oils, salves, syrups, glycerites, and more.

  • A home apothecary stocked with remedies you've created yourself.

  • A deeper relationship with the plants growing around you.

  • The confidence to care for yourself and those you love with simple herbal preparations.

  • A circle of women who continue encouraging one another long after the program ends.

Since offering these circles, I've watched women move from feeling intimidated by herbal medicine to confidently creating remedies for themselves, their families, and their communities. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing students discover that this wisdom was never out of reach—it simply needed a place to grow.
